About Haki Zako

A public interest organisation making the law a practical tool for everyday life in Kenya.

Mission & Vision

To educate people and communities on human rights and everyday justice.

Making the law a practical tool for everyday life. We believe that rights only matter when people know them, understand them, and can use them.

"
When people know their rights and can apply them, they become more capable participants in a fair and just society.
Theory of Change

How change happens

  1. Step 1

    The problem

Most Kenyans facing a legal problem take no action, often because they do not know their rights or where to go, and there is roughly one lawyer for every 2,900 people.

  2. Step 2

    What we do

Plain-language rights education online (Haki101), in-person community sessions and legal clinics (HakiKwaGround), a free AI rights navigator available 24/7 (Ask Haki), and a network of volunteer professionals (Haki Zako Network).

  3. Step 3

    What changes

People understand their rights, know which institution to approach, and take action through bodies like the Labour Office, IPOA, CAJ, KNCHR and ODPC.

  4. Step 4

    The long-term result

Communities that use the law as a practical tool, and public institutions that are held to account.
