How We Work

Haki Zako works through four interconnected pillars:

1. Rights Education (#Haki101)

We translate complex laws and human rights into simple, creative, and accessible content using social media, storytelling, videos, and everyday language.
Our goal is to make the law relatable and practical through social media.

- legal aid clinics,
- case referrals,
- public interest matters,
- and follow-up support where possible.

Innovation:

We are developing HakiBot, a digital rights assistant that helps people understand their rights and pathways for action, with the ability to escalate cases to the Pro Bono Network when needed.

Collaborations:

We welcome partnerships with educators, creatives, technologists, and organisations committed to rights education. Interested? Fill out this form, and we will be in touch.

2. Community Outreach (#HakiKwaGround)

We take legal education directly to communities through workshops, dialogues, legal clinics, and partnerships with grassroots groups, churches, schools, and justice centers. Activities are organized in response to:
- community requests, or
- identified local needs.

3. HakiZako Lawyer Network

We mobilize and coordinate a network of volunteer lawyers to provide legal aid, advice, and representation to individuals and communities who cannot afford legal services.
Support includes:
- legal aid clinics,
- case referrals,
- public interest matters,
- and follow-up support where possible.

4. Haki Zako Consulting (Social Enterprise Arm)

Haki Zako Consulting provides human rights, public policy, ESG, and tech & rights advisory services to organisations and institutions.
A portion of consulting income is reinvested into:
- Rights Education (#Haki101)
- Community Outreach (#HakiKwaGround)
- Pro Bono Legal Support

At HakiZako, we believe in a world where understanding and demanding your rights is not just a concept but a way of life.
